It is absolutely freezing here.
Let’s see right now, as I type this, it is
negative three.
Yes, that says negative three.
I’m just a tad bit cold.
So today, as part of my favorites, I’m going to add some pictures
from summer when it was warm.
Ah, warm. I miss you.
Ah, warm. I miss you.
Here goes.
This is me when it is warm outside.
A for sure favorite thing.
See how I’m thinking?
I’m probably thinking about how I don’t want that cold to come.
This is me when it is cold outside.
Not quite as favorite a thing.
Except for the coffee.
From Caribou.
A favorite.
To remind you.
It can get cold in Minnesota.
This picture?
From last January.
-3 is a heat wave compared to that.
Contrast that temp with this glorious view of summer.
These pictures are certainly a favorite thing.
And yes, we were in a parking lot.
And yes, my hair was frizzy.
Summer here is humid. 😉
Now, even though it is so cold,
there are some sweet benefits
like sitting inside with my family
and little boys running around with excess energy
and hot cocoa
{who has the recipe for the nutella cocoa?}
sipped while doing math
or eating a snack.
And this week
thank you, thank you, thank you
for the kind words about Samuel
and spreading the word about Celiac Disease.
I am so grateful.

These are some of my favorite things from this week.
Besides the funny things Elijah said
or Samuel’s morning hug and kisses
or getting new pointe shoes with Chloe
or buying Gracie the gum that she so wanted at the store
or having a warm house when it’s freezing outside.
So many great things to be grateful for. Blessed.

Those are definitely some extremes…I remember our winter in SD…two weeks straight at -20 – one reason we moved back south…plus driving right after a blizzard…well, it was too much for me! So blessed by your favorites, your words….your Samuel…and this is definitely a fantastic book!!!!
I grew up in MN and I remember having a “cold day” when school was canceled because it was just to cold to go outside 🙂
Oh, my, it was 54 and windy yesterday and I nearly froze. Silly me! I guess it’s all in what our bodies get use to, but I’m not sure I’d ever adjust to freezing temperatures on a regular basis at this stage in my life. Notice I said, stage, not age. :o)
Always love the pics of those cute kids. Happy Friday my friend!
It is so cold here too. After having this winter wait for a while to show up giving us 50’s in the first week of Jan. I am FROZE. I live with a hot cup of something and a blanket and a heat pack. It is made to fit around the neck. It is material filled with flax seed. So I can just pop it in the microwave and WHALLA …WARM!! :0)
Glad that I am in the Southern Hemisphere when I see temps that cold. Although it does get cold here (Hobart, Tasmania) in June/July it is no where near that cold!
Really enjoy your blog! Thanks for all of the encouraging words!

I would keep the book for our growing Children’s Collection!
My kids love animal info! It’d be really fun for them to have a book like that!
All three of our kids love animals!
We would love to have the animal book!
I just thought it was cold here. But then I spent my younger years in Miami and never have gotten used to the cold! Thankful for warmth!
summer and winter rachel are both equally pretty! you know hot to pull of fur! i will think of you when i say i’m freezing on a 30 degree day. : ) to you, that’s like a walk in the park!
i’m so glad samuel’s story is raising awareness. beauty from ashes right there!
that sure looks like a rad animal book!!!
have a cozy weekend in the frozen tundra with lots of coffee and hot chocolate. but that goes without saying!
xoxo!
I love your winter look – fur on the hood and a coffee in hand! 🙂
I remember one year it was negative 17 degrees outside and my coach thought I would be okay going for an hour+ run. My eyelashes were frozen and even with several layers on I never got even the tiniest bit warm! I am definitely a warm weather kind of person.
I can’t imagine temps that cold!
That is cold!
I would love to snuggle with my kids and read the book!
My goodness and I thought it was cold here. Love your Friday favorites. I always enjoy reading them!
First time visitor! My favorite things are staying home with my family and ordinary days! Don’t know much about celiac disease but I used to have lots of mouth sores and I did some reading and that was a possibility. Patsy from

The book would be for me and Z to flip through before his nap. 🙂
Brrr!! It’s cold here too–single digits this week! I LOVE all the pictures, especially of your kiddos! 🙂 This is great. Posting up for the first time this week–thanks! 🙂
So does this mean you don’t want to know that here in Dallas it was in the 70s today and we went to the park all afternoon? 🙂 Don’t worry you’ll have your revenge when we have 100 degree temps for 3 months straight!
With that said, I understand what you’re enduring!!! I grew up in South Dakota where the wind chills were insane for months on end.
Hope you have a perfectly lovely weekend, dear friend, enjoying sweet (indoor) time with your family.
rachel! beautiful family, delightful blog. just discovered you through lowercase letters and LOVE it here already.
also, i live in north dakota, so we are kinda neighbors. freezing neighbors:)
enjoy your weekend!
I’ve never been in below zero weather. I think I’d be a cold grouchy woman!
My favorite things at the moment…finding His strength is made perfect in my weakness. My husband, J and how he holds me when I need to be reassured that it’s all going to be okay.
i love that picture of you and the one of the review mirror!
