Wednesday – wordless/full –

by Rachel Marie Martin

Here’s how my family survived the heat.  Without the air conditioner, on a day with high heat and high humidity.  That air conditioner now?  Working. On it’s own — it just started up late Monday night.  We’re thinking that it either froze up or our prayers were answered.

I’m going with the latter.

The plan

start with an iced latte

Sit below coffee- staring outside

make sure hair is high up
still stare out the window
(see the Teething Bling around my neck?)

have a staple food
(I always cut watermelon in a big pan
that way the juices don’t run everywhere)

cook dinner on the grill
Ours?
Sliced potatoes, corn on the cob, tomatoes (not grilled)
and marinated flank steak (it was on sale….)

or
drool
(if you’re under one)
((and would you look at that bag for my Sam from Target for $1???))

or when all else fails- plop on the floor in front of the fan.
and, no, this photo wasn’t staged beyond the
“don’t move — I’m getting the camera!”

Ahhh … just heard the air conditioner kick in.  I do NOT take cool and comfortable for granted.    Now, off to go make myself an iced latte — which I can enjoy at any temperature.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!  Go check out some more word less/full posts over at A Beautiful Mess

Oh wow, no air conditioning? I’m so sorry you had to go through that! At least it looks as though you had some pretty good suggestions for how to stay cool. 🙂

That bag for Sam is adorable! Too precious. 🙂

we don’t have central air. but a super loud and NOT energy efficient window ac. so we just use it when we have to. which has been quite a bit this summer. but i am in no way looking forward to winter. 🙂 i’d rather have heat than snow.

Yum, an iced latte sounds good right about now. It has been so hot and humid this summer here on Long Island. I have to be in the A/C or in the pool or else I am real crabby. Yesterday I went to my in-laws house to drop something off and it was so hot. My clothes were sticking to me and I felt the sweat dripping down my back. I don’t know how they can stand it. I came home and told my hubby I wanted to put an A/C in their kitchen and he laughed. For some reason the heat really affects me. I am looking forward to the coolness of the fall.

So glad you have A/C again. How miserable, but definitely a good way to better appreciate those things we take for granted. Happy WW!

Oh so true !!! NEVER EVER take air conditioning for granted !!!! We had this happen to us a couple years ago, and it makes me appreciate the fact that we have it!!!! Until we go without (on let me remind you on one of the hottest days) does it make one really be thankful !!! Hugs !!!
I’m so glad it came back on for you guys 🙂

This is great…it is 102 degrees here and has been for weeks. Our A/C went out for four days…we all had to move upstairs…the downstairs stayed about 89 degrees…which was cooler than 104 outside.
I was thankful for the upstairs A/C.
I hope you have cooler days!!!
We probably won’t move below the 100’s for another month…yea for A/C

I’m such a wimp in the heat (and we’re moving to Texas…) – I probably would have tried, “Okay, kids, pack up – we’re going to WalMart!” 🙂

Oh the heat is kicking me hard this year! We are melting over here. When we buy a home I so want central air! 🙂 Love the photo of the boys!

I’m so glad your AC is working again. You guys were pretty ingenious in keeping cool – I like that drool technique!

It doesn’t get that hot where I live and I constantly whine about not having an air conditioner. I cannot imagine surviving without one in your neck of the woods.

I have to say, I would be right there on the floor in front of the fan with those cuties and drinking that iced latte :))

Gotta love Target’s 1$ items!!!!

I am happy you are cool again, it would not be fun with kids and no air. I am gonna use your watermelon idea I always hate cutting it because of the mess.

I am so glad your ac kicked back on. OH! This weather is just nasty. I laugh at the Dunn Bros cup. I just went there yesterday in Stillwater and grabbed a Nirvana. You should try it out and let me know what you think!

I’m getting concerned because the temps are going up around here…and we’ve never had a/c so….
