33 things to do with kids in the spring

by Rachel Marie Martin

Since I’m totally ready for spring. I think I rebuke any snow coming from now on.

Here are 33 Things to Do in the Spring with kids.

1. Document the leaves budding on the trees.
2. Dance in the spring rain.
3. Watch the birds return.
4. Make bird feeders for the birds.
5. Draw with chalk all over the sidewalk.
6. Jump in the puddles. {and if you’re really brave let it be mud.}

7. Have strawberry shortcake for dinner. With extra whipped cream.
8. Go to the zoo and walk outside.
9. Clean up the yard.
10. Go through old toys and donate.
11. Have a yard sale.
12. Make May Day baskets – we loved these from a sweet neighbor of ours last year.

13. Plan a garden and start seedlings.
14. Plant a garden (after May 15 for us in the northern states).
15. Plant flowers – get some annual bulbs as well. I love gladiolas.
16. Read stories outside.
17. Have a picnic lunch.
18. Fly a kite – just watch for trees. We still have remnants of a kite in one of our trees.

19. Learn about butterflies.
20. Order caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies. (this is a must do)
21. Read about bugs.
22. Make bug crafts.
23. Cut off all those pairs of jeans that have holes at the knees and make them shorts.
24. Blow bubbles outside. And be prepared for them to spill.

25. Play soccer.
26. Run with your kids in the park.
27. Have some media free days.
28. Go for nature walks or the nature center.
29. Read outside with your kids.
30. Wash the bikes, trikes, and outdoor stuff – car wash day is a favorite.

31. Do messy science experiments outside.
32. Make a countdown chain for end of school/beginning of summer.

and

33. Write a list with your kids of things they want to do this summer.

A short list of ideas. What are some of your favorite spring activities?

Oh yes, and stock up on those allergy meds.

Hang in there! The snow HAS to go away soon!
Continuing to lift up prayers!
Psalms 63:5-8 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Thanks for this great list! Since the weather has been so up and down, I haven’t really thought much about spring. I’ll definitely add some of your ideas to our list.

Still praying!
Psalms 69:1-3, 13 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God…But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
