It is so hot.
It is so humid.
It is hot and humid.
And I’m melting.
Now, I know I don’t live down south where they truly deal with heat, but as a Minnesotan, I can truly tell you we are hardy individuals. Why?
We melt & freeze within six months of each other.
Notice the difference? (Since it’s summer I’ll do the math.) The number? 114 degrees. Coupled with wind chills and high humidity and blizzards and tornadoes I must admit that I understand ways to deal with extremes in weather. I understand and can empathize with moms who are doing the dreaded seasonal clothes switch. I get having bins in the garage that store boots and hats next to bins storing the slip-n-slide and water guns.
Solutions for my current melting dilemma? Looking at the below pics. And remembering that in six months I’ll be craving high temps and high humidity and all things iced besides the roads.

As a New Englander, I can relate! Minus some of the tornadoes!
I hear you on that one.. I am enjoying the heat also because I know what will come..
As a southerner I am also melting. It seems to be much hotter this time of year than normal. I can’t sympathize with the cold, though. One of the reasons I live in the south. 🙂
I hear ya, but I NEVER crave winter. Ever. Spring has got to be my favorite season weather-wise (hmmm, I don’t think that’s a real term), but I like summer for the long distance trips with my youth group and Minnesota VBS with the puppet team. What’s the weather typically like the last week of July?;)
Have a good one,

Those pics are beautiful!
The weather here in California has been really weird this year. It’s almost July and we’ve yet to get into the 90’s! Today it’s only in the 70’s and that’s just not normal!
I moved from Northern PA to SC when I got married and I am LOVIN’ the heat! 😀 Hated that snow and I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with it. 🙂
So my 5 day forcaster reads 103 and 106 for the next two days! You can keep the snow though! Have fun with the yardwork!
I can relate too! This is a good reminder of why I like summer!
it’s the same here in MI! the cold where i live is not quite as drastic but the heat is for sure! it was ninety-four today and crazy humid and somehow my brother dragged me out to play soccer with him. i like your statement, “we freeze and melt within six months of each other.” so true for us more northward midwesterners!
Aw, I figure we’ll have frost by August. =D In the winter, we just gotta hold out against the cold. In the summer, the Land of 10,000 Lakes becomes a very refreshing place. =)

Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
Haha, I’m in Texas…our pool temp was 90 degrees today and it was simply refreshing to jump into…meaning that our temps were well over 100 degrees already…all I can say is, brace yourself: August is a-comin :)))
Love your wintery pix…we were in Minnesota for the first time this winter visiting friends and we were seriously shocked by the cold, lol!!
Wow, I thought the Northwest was bad! Sometimes in the same day you will start with the heater on, by the end of the day you have the AC on!
Oh, those snow pics just cooled my body temp 15 degrees! Thank you! As an Iowan, I understand and relate so much to this post! You’re right, come January we’ll be whining for the sweltering heat!
Love it — this made me laugh. My husband is from Minnesota, so we spend a lot of time up there. It’s so beautiful…but those winter temperatures. He always vows we will live there someday…and I have to say, “Yeah, you and your other wife!”
We just got back from a trip to the North Shore. Now THAT is heaven on Earth!
