{changing the format a bit…I figure doing friday favorite things a certain way for 62 weeks gives me permission to switch things up… today’s post is a mix of photos and an instagram pic and a teeny vlog celebrating my real beautiful I just got a chocolate chip cookie life in pics.}
After yesterday’s crazy amount of rain – and I mean crazy rain – we’re talking four inches within 18 hours – I realized, once again, I had much to be grateful for this week. Like our sump pump. Which has been running almost constantly – about 38 seconds between cycles. Or that our power only remained off for 18 agonizing let’s keep checking the water level in the sump pump minutes. I was on the phone with my sweet neighbor and dear friend, Maria, bemoaning the ridiculous amount of water and the lack of electricity. Then when the lights flickered back on we both let out an audible cheer.
And it got me thinking of all the things to be grateful for that I forget in the day to day.
Simple things
Electricity.
Sump Pumps.
Umbrellas.
Hot coffee on a rainy day.
My faithful Keurig.
Birds chirping late at night.
A piano to play.
My friend, Jenn at Daze of Adventure who listens to me {with patience and encouragement} on those hard days. You know, those days that inspire me to write posts like – grumbling mom learns a lesson.
those chocolate chip cookies
The sun that is now shining on this late Thursday evening.
Trees and bushes to hide in.
Old swings in the yard.
{love that my droid phone has the app now}
Udi’s Gluten Free
I’m adding my favorite gluten free brand simply because the more I learn about that awesome company the more I am grateful to be a part of their team. I was on a conference call yesterday with them, and seriously, while I was on the call {in the midst of an hour lull in that crazy rain} the fedex express truck pulled up, actually stopped in front of my house {normally it’s my neigbors}, and came carrying me a box full of Udi’s Gluten Free goodness.
Here is my instagram pic of Samuel enjoying that Udi’s Snickerdoodle Cookie. Love.
More favorites
Backyards to play in.
Breaks in the rain to swing on the the swings.
{they still love that toddler/baby swing…it’s such a favorite}
So deep in thought.
{or so worn out from too much swinging}
Who knew there was so much to ponder when one was four?
from Lord of The Rings {Fellowship of the Ring} that I shared on my facebook page.
Are you following? Would love to have you join the conversation over there

I happen to love Lord of the Rings. So many great words of wisdom. And then there’s Samwise.
{grin – we call our Sam Samwise – so I’m partial to liking him.}
Elijah and I made this video {which got cut off} sitting by my raspberry bushes.
{these bushes, my patch as I call it, are now partially under water}
I’m venturing into the vlogging world.
So I’m starting small. With this very simple little vlog about well, nothing really. 🙂 It starts with my daughter Hannah interviewing Elijah and then I take over with the interview — it gets cut off with me asking Elijah if he eats gluten free bread. Have patience. Better vlogs coming. This was me starting….
I’m such a rookie…
