Yes. This. And this again.
Parenting isn’t about stuff and getting it perfect – it’s about this. Watch. And remember.
I had forgotten just a bit.
I forgot the beauty of the sand in my toes and the look of delight on my preschooler’s face. Or the rainbows dotting the sky after a thunderstorm clears. Or sometimes to even slow down and push the hair back on my four year old while he’s sleeping and simply kiss him goodnight. I live in a go here and go there and never stop world and even though I write about moments and joy I still find myself getting stuck in the frenzy of the busy.
Today? After I watched this? I remembered.
You know what? I may mess up. I may not be perfect. I may not even think I’m an awesome mom. But you know what? I love my kids. I fight for my kids. I try, work, give, and don’t quit. And that matters. And that matters for you as well. It matters what you do day in and day out and day in and day out and again like the rinse cycle on the washing machine – it matters even if it’s the most ordinary. It’s the giving of self, giving of time, the teaching, and all of that that matters.
Love them. Not stuff.
Give them time.
That’s what matters.

Great things to remember. The guy narrating this reminds me of the guy who was doing the background talking on Sandlot. Love that movie!
The Lord uses everything that happens for a purpose. Praying right now!
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Hope this beautiful Gospel passage gives you comfort! Continued prayers for safe travels.
Titus 3:4-7 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Praying!
Lamentations 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
The Lord will be with you always. Praying!
Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (8) And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Lifting up prayers!
Psalms 57:1-2 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
Know I’m always here praying.
Psalms 71:1-3 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Hi Rachel
Thanks for sharing – I loved that video and will be sharing/bookmarking it to rewatch every so often. It had an air of forcing itself to be a bit too much like that iconic “wear sunscreen” speech, but it was so dead on that I let that pass. Also I was a little disheartened to see it is actually an advertisement, but I guess that’s kudos to the company!
I always enjoy your posts, thanks.
Valery
Know that I’m praying right now!
Psalms 71:12, 14-16 O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help…But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
Really like sometimes we forget but a constant reminder makes,us perfect
