I did it.
I woke up early.
(I did however rest on our living room couch for just a bit.)
I’ve had my prayer time.
Coffee.
Blogging — including reading all of your kind and encouraging comments.
Cleaned a bit.
Started a load of laundry.
Put out our lists for the day.
My family is just now waking.
First Samuel.
Then Caleb.
Now Elijah.
I’ve built 1 wooden train track
and
I’ve peeled 3 oranges.
And opened 2 bananas.
Now they’re eating breakfast.
In my clean and ready for the day kitchen.
I feel tired.
Yet, ready for the day.
Ahead of my schedule — not rushing to catch up.
Joyful.
And content.
How long does it take for something to become a habit?
(maybe I should start an accountability thread)
Because I think I could get used to this.
Did you do it as well? Did you rise early?
(missed yesterday’s post on the scenarios? If so click here)

I just read yesterday and today’s blog post…and it was like you duplicated a page of history in my book of life. LOL Yes, I too find a much better day when I get up early, however it is so hard for me to get out of bed early. (Specially with all the late night studying.)
One thing to think about for you and me in our quest to rise early: “Those who seek Me EARLY shall find me.” Hhmmm…Better set my alarm for tomorrow morning already. 🙂 And cover up the snooze button! Guess I could say: “If I snooze, I really DO lose!” LOL
Hugs!
Good for you! My kiddos are very early risers, so I would have to get up at 4:30 to accomplish all of that before they wake. I don’t think I can do that without falling asleep on them during the day 🙂
God’s blessings to your family!
Hugs,
Amy
I got up early this morning for my first work out since October! Definitely felt nice to not be rushing around this morning after we got back from the gym!
I love getting up before the family. That little bit of tired seems to disappear so quickly when the house is ready for the day and so am I. Good luck! I know you can keep it up. I’m hoping to follow in your footsteps once the baby is sleeping through the night. Have a joyful day.
I think it’s tougher for that person who is not a ‘natural’ morning girl. I look at friends who can stay up until midnight and WANT to do that. That is when they feel most productive and I personally think their crazy! To try and change my morning routine to night time, I just don’t know if I could do it. I need my sleep but I am a natural morning girl so I am rarin’ to go at 4:30-5 no problem, that’s not to say I need to go to bed by 9-10. I love the quiet house in the morning. I LOVE this time of my day. I need it. I am glad you are seeing the JOY in it too 🙂
I have heard it takes 21 days to make it a habit. I am still trying to get back on track after the holiday break 🙂
I did it too! Just got UP. 🙂 Tired, but much better stress wise.
I decided to get up at 6:00 today and make a big breakfast… I was TIRED too… but it was SO worth it! (I need accountability too!)
🙂
If I would get my carcass to bed earlier I would happier to wake up earlier my goal for 2011. Go to bed earlier!
I seriously thought of you this morning as I hit snooze…I’m going to try again tomorrow. I will say I was dragging today…so those extra 10 minutes didn’t help. Tomorrow is a new day. I am so excited for you that you did it and were ahead of the game. LOVE the picture too! Thanks for the encouragement and I pray you continue this habit.
Good for you Rachel. I am so not a morning person. And I stay up way too late. Maybe I ought to work on getting to be earlier.
i failed. sage had another bad night. i guess i have to cut myself some slack because i can’t expect to be up at 5 or 6 am when i’ve been up for hours with a stuffy-nosed baby. right?! i hope so! i’m so happy you had a good day with an early start!
Glad it went so well! I’m not exactly the getting up early kinda person…cuz I’m the staying up way to late kinda person and something’s gotta give.
Know that I’m praying!
Psalms 27:13-14: I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
