I am, once again, in need of the magical laundry fairy. You know? The one who can instantly catch an individual up on all of that laundry build up. Laundry that got ignored as I ran our garage sale. I’ve got piles waiting to be washed and piles waiting to be folded. And a hamper overflowing. And wet towels, used for that hot day yesterday in the pool, hanging over the edge of the deck railings. And I’m wishing for that quick, instant fix.
This involves work. Dedicating time to fold, wash, and put-away. Work that honestly, I don’t really enjoy. I can putz around in my garden and yard for hours, and yet, spending that time in my laundry room isn’t my idea of a fabulous afternoon. Make that day.
I know that once I’m caught up I’ll be grateful, and have that sense of accomplishment. It’s just those steps of catching up that are so difficult. Isn’t that how life is? Sometimes we have to go through these times that we know will be challenging — there’s no way around those trials — and yet, once we re-emerge we’re so grateful for walking through.
There are beautiful analogies in the everyday. Images of perseverance, diligence, and faith. Sometimes it seems as if the Lord gives us lessons in the little things so that we are a little bit prepared when the big deals come about. And then, at least for me, we’re really grateful for all those little things that used to be challenging.
what a cute pic! and so true of what we choose to put before the dreaded laundry room! wish I could just stay caught up too! but can’t…such is life! hope you get it all accomplished! 🙂
This post sounds like my life today! My dryer was broken for weeks and finally got fixed and I was able to do like 10 loads in a day. I’m finally caught up and it feels good! Hope you got lots done today too!
Humidity makes Samuel even cuter! And it makes me….NOT so cute! : )
I’m not a fan of laundry either but I’ll take that over scrubbing the shower and toilets!
Samuel’s hair is cute. Mine fuzzes up something awful.
I wish MY hair looked that cute in the humidity! I actually don’t mind doing the laundry…I just don’t like putting it away! So it stays folded on a couch for a few days (shhh…don’t tell anyone about that!)
I feel your pain!!! We went on a week vacation the first full week of June – Yea, I am still not caught up!! I’m blaming it on the weather ~ who wants to be inside with laundry when it’s beautiful outside!! Your Cutie Pie is adorable!
I love the picture of Samuel 🙂 What a cutie !! If you only could see the piles of laundry I have here now, you might feel better. I have 5 kids and 4 of them still live at home and it seems like I never get caught up either.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I appreciated your comment. I am your newest follower and I love that you are a Mom of 7!! 🙂
Thanks again for your kind words!
such a cutie! makes all the worry of laundry dissapear!
Oh Laundry! My kids are almost grown and I never have conquered it. Boy laundry is especially stinky…and somehow, I’m starting to miss it…
Laundry and dishes. These things, I am NEVER caught up on. Just when I am done running laundry, folding it and putting it away, it has to be run again. Ugh. And the last couple weeks, laundry has been stacked up to be put away and I am folding new clean laundry! I have been so behind its ridiculous.
Sending you the strength of 10 mothers!! With 7 kids, I can’t imagine how you EVER stay on top of the laundry!
Although my kids do most of the laundry folding and putting away — at least the older 5 do that, the younger two are still “hinder helpers” 🙂 — whenever I do fold piles of laundry, I try to remember to pray for each person for whom I’m folding. It helps the pile dwindle quickly and helps me to serve the Lord with gladness. Rather a daunting prospect when the pile is as tall as my 2yo. 🙂
Oh, he’s so cute! I have decided that I am going to train my older children to help me with the laundry beast. They will swap every week, but they are now responsible for the the towels and their clothes. I will continue to hubby’s and mine.
Their wives will thank me!
It seems like we’re always behind on laundry! Aw, what a cute lil’ punkin! 🙂
God is really speaking to me through this post. Not just in laundry, but I long to be a better mother and housekeeper every day. It’s hard and I always blame the fact that I work full time on the reason I get so behind but really, you work full time to…as manager of your home…and I know that if He gives you the strength to do all of this, then He will give it to me. I need to start looking for the blessings of God in every day life. Thank you!
