Random words and thoughts.
rugby. I know many of you watched the Grammy’s this weekend. I didn’t. I know, I know, I am pretty lame — miss the Grammy’s? However, to make it up to you, I’m letting you know that I did watch Rugby. Yes, you read that right, rugby. I’d show you pictures but I’d have to get written consent from the official Rugby Sevens. Scrum. So instead I’m sharing with you a picture of Grace reading. Which is the complete opposite of what rugby was like — look at her — and reverse it.
rugby secret. Towards the end of watching it I was actually beginning to understand it. Seems like they make up new rules all the time. Now I’m setting my dvr to record rugby. Who knew that I’d be a fan of the Rugby Sevens?
ring the fairy house. This has been hanging in my parents kitchen since my dad got it from someone at work. I think my sister, who was then living at home, plopped it on the light fixture. Now it’s simply an extension of the light fixture, but almost always talked about when we’re over and rung. Lots of memories in that simple object — of grandkids fascinated by the little house hanging over the table.
oranges. This bowl was full when we arrived at my parents. When we left there was one left. 😉
real. I love this little inspirational rock thing {what do you call it?}. There’s a great deal of truth in those simple words. I love determination and want to instill that in my kids. {Maybe that’s why I like rugby? Those guys are determined.}
really real. I heart {I can say that – Valentine’s Day is tomorrow} this picture of Samuel and myself reading some cards about birds. He was content to sit in my arms and read them — and learn — no agendas needed. That sweet boy? He’s got a cold or is coming down with something and was up many times last night. So was his mother which explains why my miscellany monday was quite late getting up. I love that guy and will rock him — even at 2:18am — that’s what mothers do. This picture is not from 2:18 am, but you get the idea. 🙂
reading. Have you entered to win a set of six Imagination Station Readers on my blog? I was blessed to review and then giveaway one set to one of you. Click HERE to pop over to the entry page.
reading music. Yep. That’s my piano. And yep, it’s missing some of the ivories that should be on those keys. But, you know, for being almost 100 years old it’s a great piano. In fact, I am so grateful to my parents for pushing me to keep practicing and making me stay in lessons {did you hear that mom? Make sure to tell dad….} all those years. Now, I can sit down at my very old piano and play and think and pray and play and think some more. Real blessings. Encourage your kids to stick at it. Determination.
random. that was today’s post. You can blame it on no sleep. Today? A mixture of ballet runs, teaching reading and writing, cooking and cleaning, and attempting to find a rest. Oh yes, and recreating my glue and glitter pictures that were lost.
linking up with my real friend, Carissa, who is wonderful. Her post today? Super sweet. And she did watch them Grammy’s. Wonder if she caught rugby earlier in the day? How was your weekend?

such a fun post… love that leadership quote and I’ve got to go enter to win those books! 🙂
Thanks, Jenilee. I love that leadership quote as well. Glad you entered the giveaway!
I didn’t see the grammy’s either… I didn’t even know I missed them until I read this. My husband played Rugby one year in college. I never understood all the rules.
we were trying to watch rugby too, but then we watched some of the grammy’s until downton abbey came on. rugby is indefinitely confusing, and it didn’t help for mom to be screaming “FOUL! FLAG! TOUCHDOWN!!” every five seconds. it’s a good game, though. :))

Love that you still have a family piano and you stuck with it! I think the missing ivories make it all the more endearing. 🙂 I have had so many people over the years tell me they wish they had stuck with piano (I am a music teacher and teach piano and voice). I have never once regretted sticking with it. 🙂 Have a great week, Rachel!
I didn’t watch all the Grammy’s just the people arriving.
Love that quote!
I saw a small portion of the Grammy’s and that’s only because my hubby tuned in…I could have missed it altogether and would have been OK. Such great shots what’s going on in your world. Those oranges look delicious!
Wow! I so love the reading pics of Grace. Such dedication! It reminds me of my own reading days as a child 😉
Wow! They still have those American Girl books? I remember those! I’m so glad to see they are still around.
Nice photos! Have a great day!

Didn’t watch the Grammy’s either…and my little guy is now sporting a bright green cast on his right arm. So what’s he doing with it? Tormenting his mama by hitting the high chair with it…and, I’m assuming, a lot of other things by now! At least he’s not hurting!
Continuing to pray!!!!
Psalms 46:7, 10-11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.(10-11) Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
