professor in a box review

by Rachel Marie Martin

My Hannah is a sophomore in highschool. She’s a determined gal — she runs her own blog design business and also a very successful and rapidly growing photography business. So many of my wonderful photos are taken by her. Love them. That’s her below. She blogs at Aspire.

She’s been using the Professor in a Box Principles of Marketing Course. It counts as a highschool credit in marketing and honestly is as challenging as a first year college course. We’re planning on having her take the CLEP test after this since it is so thorough.  It’s been fun watching her spend time learning about how to grow her businesses and also rewarding as she realizes that she’s already implemented many of the tools of marketing.

Professor in a Box - Marketing Product

It’s an easy to use dvd series. Here are Hannah’s pros and cons. In her own words.

I’ve really enjoyed using the Professor in the Box Marketing Course. It is a comprehensive introduction to the world of marketing that is presented in a way that strengthens the key concepts and maximizes the information. It is in-depth, yet not overly detailed, and the lessons are not too lengthy. With quizzes at the end of each lecture, the main points are really impressed in your mind and pronounced.
While I think the DVD series is a great course, some of the quizzes include information that will be learned in the next lesson. In addition, some of the lessons are full of a ton of information that is very condensed. While the lessons are about 20-30 minutes, I’ve found that it takes me about 45-60 minutes to go through the material, as I end up stopping the dvd several times and taking notes.
Overall, I found that it’s a wonderful beginning to the complex world of marketing, and I’m excited to see how the knowledge will manifest itself in my business.

I’d recommend this course to any highschool student interested and eager in pursuing a course in marketing and business.

Nitty gritty details. Principles of Marketing is taught by Julie Pirsch, Ph.D. and sells for $119.99. If you’re interested in purchasing your own copy click here. To read other reviews click here. Thanks, Hannah, for giving your opinion. I think the student’s view is really helpful in choosing curriculum.

Good job, Rachel and Hannah!
