This has been quite the weekend – so I’m thankful to write with miscellany.
1. On Sunday I spent a good 4 hours in our yard trying to prep for winter. I’ve got my shoulder surgery scheduled and I know that I’ve got to use my time wisely in these last several weeks. And that meant that yard work just needed to be done. So now, I sit here typing my miscellany monday notes with a very sore shoulder {yes, I probably shouldn’t have done all that work…but that’s just me} and some sore hands and fingers. Those beautiful yellow leaves are almost gone…
2. The yard looks great. Those leaves and grass clippings are now sitting in our city’s compost pile. I think I probably emptied 15 bags of yard waste. Such hard physical work. Rewarding to see it done. Except for that wind — blowing in new piles of leaves with every gust…I had to let it go.
3. Now, tonight as I sit and type {and watch Amazing Race — because remember I really want to be on that show} I’m thinking about all the things that need to get done, and yet, I’m not going to let it really bother me. I’ve got my family around me, my kids enjoying the show with me, and I’ve got time. It’s perspective, right? It’s slowing down and enjoying the moments you have right in front of you.
4. Speaking of perspective, I’d love for you to read my post that I wrote for 5 Minutes for Faith on Real Rest. I used one of those pictures of Samuel and myself reading {from Friday Favorites — I just had to share it here again} and wrote about how important real rest is — and that is not rest that we can get ourselves it’s only from the Father. Here’s the link: Real Rest
5. Carissa {the lovely host of this miscellany}is hosting a giveaway for Legacy Bracelets {which is owned by my dear friend Amy} You need to enter. This bracelet is an unbelievable blessing and gift. At Relevant my bracelet was handed around — one side has pictures of your family and the other a beautiful pattern. It’s an awesome piece of artwork that is jewelry.
6. And finally, I hope you join the You and Your Blog Challenge — where you simply take a picture of you with your blog up and add your link to the growing list of bloggers with their blogs. It’s been exciting to see the momentum start to build for this project! Click the button below to learn more and add your link.
I think that’s it. Now, I’m off to get some ice for my very sore shoulder….or coffee…
…and of course, I’m linking with my dear, dear friend Carissa.

Hoping that your shoulder is feeling better. Reading with your kids is so precious, and such a good example.
Hello to the Amazing Rach!!!! Hee hee!!! : )
Girl, you better be careful with your shoulder. I’m praying and praying that the surgery will put everything in place to help you and heal you completely!
All your leaf pictures give my yard some serious tree envy. ; ) So I’m really loving your pictures. I bet your yard really looks amazing after all that hard work!
Off to read your post at FMFF.
Xoxo! Have a lovely week, my dear friend.

Just wanted to pop over and say thanks for saying “hi” on my blog 🙂
I’m sort of newish to the whole commenting on blogs world, so I was wondering how it works. When I commented back to you on my blog, did it notify you? Or do I need to comment on the person’s own blog for them to receive notification of it? Just trying to sort out how it works so I don’t accidentally ignore people!
Thanks!
Yard work is extremely hard work…I hope you take it easy. We have a ton of leaves to pick up and hope to get that done sooner than later. Family time is SO precious. You and the Amazing Race huh…go for it!!! I could use some Fatherly rest, that’s for sure…I’ll have to check that out. And this pic with me and the blog…interesting. I’ll have to do that too this week. Have a wonderful (and relaxing) Monday Miss Rachel.

hope your shoulder feels better!
The minute you said you were doing yard work I knew your poor shoulder was going to take a hit. Hope the surgery is soon and that your recovery is quick!
Know that I’m continuing to pray!
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
