See that blurry pic? The one taken with my camera phone?
That’s from my girls’ night. Last night. With my daughters — Hannah, Chloe and Grace. And my dear friend, Julie, who came along. We left our routine and headed out to the movies.
What did we see?
Well, if you’d look at the Marquee of the movie theater there is absolutely nothing that would be appropriate for our family to see. In fact, I didn’t even want Gracie girl reading some of the titles. That being said, we saw the best family movie I’ve seen in a great while.
We saw Secretariat.
And it was awesome.
Inspiring, clean, funny, true, and beautifully filmed. And did I say clean? Because there wasn’t a moment where I felt that “momma cringe” as something inappropriate flashes on the screen or is spoken. And I was grateful. It’s sad that movie producers feel compelled to add a bit of controversy to a film. Unlike Secretariat.
This was about life. And persistence. Belief. And perseverance.
We’ll be seeing it again.
I love days where family comes first — and last night it was about my daughters and me.

Thanks to Blogher and Disney for my screening tickets. I wasn’t required to mention either, but we were so blessed that I feel compelled to thank them for including our family in the screening. Plus, my daughters thought it was awesome to have reserved seats. We just walked into the theater, they checked our name off a list, and then showed us to our assigned seats. Very fun — what an experience for them — and me! 🙂

How fun! 🙂 Thanks for the movie recommendation! I recently did a girl night with my Annie. We went shopping and out for ice cream. Next time I want to take her to a pottery painting place near us! 🙂
Santa took Reese’s and I to see Secretariat for my birthday. (Sneak Preview in Texarkana area.)
It was amazing. I have seen the sports footage of that crazy horse at least a hundred times and it was STILL a great movie to me.
Still on the edge of my seat even though I knew the outcome. We loved it too!
Oh, it sounds like you had a wonderful time! And, what a memory for your girls – a special night out with their mom.
Sounds like a fun night! Thanks for sharing about the movie. I look forward to seeing it.
It looks like you had fun. I want to see that movie. Family and Friends are such blessings and what better time to spend together than going to the movie.
Blessings

I enjoy my daughters’ company more than any friends I have ever had. I know I’m still mom and not a peer, but I love to see the people they are becoming. They are super to be with.
That is a precious picture of you and your girls!
Ooh, how fun, Rachel! Last time we went to the theatre was when we went to see Toy Story 3. So fun.
Blessings!

SO great to know…we’ve been looking forward to this coming attraction…nice to know it’s not a disappoint and stays within the boundaries of our family comfort zones! Oh, to be treated like royalty…having your names on a list and reserved seating, what fun!
oh,it opens here tomorrow and it’s been our list of “must sees” after seeing the previews several weeks ago. Reading your entry makes me even more excited! Just love it when some producer comes through for us every now and then.
Blessings to you!
That is so cute…looks like you guys had fun! And have such a great mother-daughter relationship! I love that my “little girl” is growing up and I feel more of a friendship with her!
What a good idea to have a girls night out – in a couple years, me and my four girls will need to do that. AND I’m always thankful for a good movie recommendation. We watch so few these days for the very reasons you mentioned!
Glad you had such a good time!
Stopping by to let you know that I’m always here praying!
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
