the month of may
has a tendency to race by
way too fast
filled with things to do
they seem so urgent
and yet they leave me exhausted
I need to slow down
and begin to embrace the sweetness in may
in the moments
where my hands are in the dirt
where i can sit still
even though my list
is longer than I care to admit
and completing the list doesn’t equal happiness
so just as there are moments of new growth
buds on the trees
seeds tucked into the soil
for the sun and the rain to grow
there are moments of growth for me
in the dirt times of life
day to day
so in may
in the craziness of agendas being completed
there is still beauty
living life freely
it’s not the list
it’s the heart.
I am having these same thoughts! I’m trying not to let my list overwhelm and just take little steps…to enjoy and to breathe. I’m right there with you 🙂 Miss Hannah’s pictures are just lovely too.
Love your post, momma! Wonderful reminder for me too — in the business, I forget the little things and try to speed through the day. This day? I’m going to LIVE it. Slow down. And breathe. (I’ll sing to the piano song, too. 😉
Loads and loads like laundry of love,
Beautiful perspective, Rachel — especially today as we’re preparing to go on yet another long trip I need to just relax and enjoy each moment. 🙂
Sigh. I know what you mean…was planning to have some of those lovely nature moments this weekend at dawn, but it was cold and gray and the baby had kept me up alot…and so I slept. May is zipping by!
Wow, Rachel, I really love your writing style on this blog. But especially in this post… The way you integrated the images to tell a story is beautiful. And thank you for reminding me to slow down in this busy season!
We have just started a garden in the past few weeks so I am just now experiencing some of the same joys in the dirt 🙂
Your daughter takes wonderful pictures! A budding talent that one:)
Rachel, Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog today. I’m sure that this baby wil bring such joy to our lives, but man alive…..5 sure sounds like alot of kids!!!! As for homeschooling….will I ruin them? Will I go crazy???? These are just a FEW of my questions 😉 You have a great rest of the day, too!
Hi Rachel. Isn’t gardening so satisfying! How is your son doing? I remember him in my prayers!
beautfiul beautiful and oh so true!! Love the pictures to go with this post. Nothing like nature and gardening to relax us and slow us down.
Very well said with beautiful photos as well. I am trying to take a step back every time the list has more than 5 tasks. It does helps.
