and here we go…

by Rachel Marie Martin

…homeschooling year eleven.

Starting.

Breathing deep.

Praying for His direction.

Grateful.

For the freedom in education.

And for parents who can choose the path for their family.

Blessed.

By the books on my shelves.

And minds eager to learn.

Loving.

The time spent together as a family.

The hours forming bonds and learning.

Humbled.

By the beauty of childhood

And the gift to be a mother.

Eager.

To delve into History and Science and Math

To sit on the couch and read.

Motivated.

It’s the start of our homeschool calendar year.

And we’re ready to go.

My Liam starts his first day of kindergarten today…first ride on the school bus. I’m scared to the point I have an uneasy stomach but I also know he is going to love every second of it and that he is so ready for this next step. Wishing you a wonderful year of homeschooling!

I think its fantastic that you give your time to your kids in this way. I home schooled from 6th grade on and thank my mom so much for allowing me that choice to do so. It really shaped who I became.
Good luck this year:)

To be honest, I haven’t kept track of the number of years… Maybe we “started” in 1996 or 1997? I’d like to say we began when our firstborn was a newborn… I used to wake her up at 6:30am so her daddy could read the Bible to us before he left for work. (noble aspirations that didn’t quite last through that harvest season… but we got back to it when we caught up on some sleep…now we read at bedtime when he’s home)

Our oldest will be 18 next week. We signed a high school diploma for her last May.
Just crazy
how
time
flies…

Awesome! We started our school year today – it is our first year homeschooling. My daughter is supposed to be in kindergarten but she is way above level so I am teaching her from first grade curriculum. My son will be doing some school at home and some at his special needs class because he is autistic (he’s four). I am hoping to switch him entirely to homeschool by his kindergarten year.
First day went well – we’ll see how it continues to go. thankful for God’s direction!

I am impressed with 11 years of homeschooling! I am on year two and this is the first year we have all the kids home. I am still learning what really works for us. I enjoy your blog and read when I get the chance. Hope your school year goes well.
