That’s us above.
Waiting in the Taco Bell line. Waiting because we just got finished with a sports physical.
Waiting for food. Yes, fast food.
I could get after myself for this being dinner, but sisters, I am doing the best I can tonight.
There are moments where you just have to let go of the expectations and let go of the worries and let go of the stuff to do and let go of the organic meals and just get yourself inline at Taco Bell ordering some nachos and bean burritos. Did you hear that? Let go of the expectations.
You know, the gigantic bag of expectations that we carry as mom. Some we are so aware of and others we don’t even realize we are carrying until one day, we look in the mirror and we see the tears in our eyes and we think, “what is going on here?” It’s that weight of trying to keep everything together, to keep going, to be never behind.
Breathe.
Back to this Taco Bell outsourcing deal – so when the sixteen year old looking guy asks you about sauce you just reply, “mild, sir, mild, because I can’t handle anything more.” And when he looks at you with that quizzical oblivious look of what it’s like to be pushed to your parenting limit you just smile and ask for some extra sauce.
Because there are some nights where in order to make it through and get all the homework done and the bags ready and the whole mothering list of crazy completed where you realize you are outsourcing dinner.
Yes, outsourcing.
Tonight I can proudly say I outsourced dinner to Taco Bell.
Because motherhood is too much at times. Not only will the kids survive but if they are like mine you’ll get the words of “you’re the best!” when you come in with a giant bag of bean delights. I think that we forget the beauty of outsourcing. Somehow in those weighted bags of expectations we have this subtle lie that says, “if you were a good mom you could handle it all.”
Nope. Sometimes being a good mom means realizing you cannot handle it all and outsourcing.
Now, if you only eat healthy and organic and this is just too much, just don’t say anything. That’s what I’ve learned too. It’s way better to high five each other for their bests in the moment versus to question each other.
Remember the phrase “straighten each other’s crowns?” Well, that applies to Taco Bell run nights too.
Burrito anyone?
Embrace each other, let go of the expectations and feel free to outsource.
