I love summer.
I love the freedom, the lack of brimming to the rim schedule, and the break from the frenzy.
That being said, I realized that there is a teeny part of me that is {gasp} looking forward to fall. I mean, sigh, I even had that nostalgic feeling when looking through those fall pictures of mine.
Sigh. The colors..the cider..the crisp {and cool air}.
The schedule…
Here are ten signs that you might secretly be wishing for fall.
1. The annual put-away the winter clothes and bring out the summer clothes hasn’t been completed and you are now content to just leave it the way it is.
2. You’ve stopped ordering iced drinks at Starbucks and have returned to your old stand by caramel macchiato – extra hot.
3. While shopping at Target {or Walmart} you sneak over to the Back to School Supplies and quietly add a pack of 25cent crayons to your cart and linger over the larger than life display of pens.
4. While looking at the weather you let out a cheer if the temperature actually drops below 90 degrees.
5. Summer cleaning, also known as lets remove the clutter, has taken over.
6. The cry of I’m bored in your home is now met with well I could pull out some math practice sheets for you to do and the kids actually agree that they want to do them.
7. Grilling has lost a bit of it’s allure. A good hotdish {you all know I’m from minnesota} has now made it’s way onto your weekly menu plan.
8. The catalogs that come pouring in, that when they started arriving in June were ignored, are now your go-to bedside reading material. Same with to-do lists and schedules and calendars.
9. Your kids have asked when they can go to that really fun place with the pumpkins and corn and when you ask if it’s the apple orchard they exclaim with glee that that is the place.
10. When mulling over highlight options for your hair the beachy blond highlight is being edged out by that cool shade of burgundy. Okay, that’s just me, but hahaha – you get it.
One thing that I could live without? Holiday decorations in the store.
Could we at least wait until maybe, gasp, mid September? Are we in agreement?
Are you ready for  fall?

I’m not-so-secretly 95% looking forward to fall! Summer is nice for about two months, and then I’m done. Especially since here in Georgia, we usually get about 3 weeks of spring, 5 months of summer, and then finally the relief of fall. Ahhhh…. 😉
Me!!! I’m ready!!! I always enjoy a taste of summer, but Autumn is my favorite time of year, so bring it on!
Autumn is my favourite season, but here in the United Kingdom Summer appears not to want to put in an appearance, so for now I’ll still wish for the rain to stop and the sun to shine, while desperately waiting for our local supermarket to have their school supplies in so I can browse (for me)
I’m definitely looking forward to autumn.
We have started back to school, so you can tell the “I’m bored” really started to grate on my nerves. Taking so much time off for summer just doesn’t work for us.
Great post!
I always look forward to fall. There’s no secret to it. Fall is my favorite time of year.
so looking fwd to fall…kinda….my daughter will start serial casting..husband to teach Chemistry and anatomy at Enrichment Classes….I will return to Nursing 4 days a month after baby leave….
I AM looking fwd to cooler days..long walks…cider mills..apples…cooler days at farmers Market(have not been once due to 100 deg days here)..apple picking…getting dark a bit earlier….leave piles..smell of fall….lawn mowers again…(no rain…no mowing) fall clean up in yard and garden…
So yes looking fwd to it, but with a bit of trepidation due to some changes…

Oh yes, definitely! I’m in Michigan, and our fall is so so so beautiful… I just wish that it wasn’t followed by such a harsh, yucky winter.
I love summer, but I’m 37 weeks pregnant so I’m pretty much over it now. Thank goodness I convinced my husband to get a pool that wasn’t just for little kids this year. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready for pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween.
I feel like I’m finally starting to have a summer :/ Not ready for fall yet at all!!!!
I am so ready for the fall!! Why? We will be completely moved, we will have a routine back in place, we will be doing school and most of all the weather!! I love the cool crisp feel of the mountain air and the beautiful colors of the leaves on the trees. Yes, I am ready for the fall! LOL
It’s raining…and now I’m happy to enjoy summer. Yesterday with 100 degrees and 90% humidity? Not so much. Fall sounds GREAT, though!
I simply adore you. I want to see the burgundy hair highlights, please. Just once? ;0)
Well, here in Phoenix, fall doesn’t really start for us until October-ish. It’s a toss up when Halloween comes around if it’s going to be hot or cold — I’ve experienced it both ways.
But yes – I’ve already been eyeballing the school supplies at Target. I’ll probably keep the blonde-ishness in my hair (you can kinda get away with that year round in Phx). And we just had our first Parent/Teacher Organization board meeting this week, preparing for school starting in 2.5 weeks!! AAAH!
This time of year for me means that all 5 of my children are back at home, which I love. The older 3 each go to various places throughout the summer, somewhat interrupting my ‘normal’…so I’m ready for all 5 of their faces to be around the dinner table again. 🙂
I thought I was the only one!!! I just told my sister yesterday that I’ve got that “nesting” feeling already and it’s not even August yet.
I sat and had a bowl of soup in 80 degree weather. My son was walking around in a hoody and jogging pants.
It’s not that I’m not enjoying my summer and for us it ends at the end of September, but I just love starting to think about all those cozy things to do around our fire and apple picking and… oh don’t get me started. It’s just nice to know I’m not alone.
#3, #5 and #8. And yesterday I told my husband I was ready for summer to be over 😀
As much as I have complained about the excessive humidity, I am NOT ready for summer to leave. Not yet, at least 🙂
This is funny because just the other day I began to think of fall and I actually missed it. So, yes, I can agree that I’m looking forward to fall. It is my most favorite season!
Blessings!

I actually wish we could just skip summer altogether. It gets dangerously hot here in Phoenix. I much prefer fall, with its cool breezes and falling leaves 🙂
(Plus, I’m looking forward to my birthday, so… yeah.)

I love this post almost as much as I love fall 🙂 Fall is by far my favorite season and if I could find someplace with “fall weather” year round I would totally move there! I love a good hotdish, and am so annoyed by Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby already. I have a strict “no Christmas until after Thanksgiving” rule…Dear Fall, Please hurry! Sincerely, Can’t remember the last time I wasn’t dripping with sweet.
My problem with the change of seasons is that it gets dark earlier. I really need to get walking in after babysitting and it’s great now. I have lots of time…but all too soon I won’t have any time at all!
What comforting words! Praying!!!!
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I start looking forward to fall just after Christmas! 🙂 AND the sad thing is I don’t even HAVE FALL here in Hawaii! haha. So I do all I can to recreate it in my home–candles w/ autumn smells, and even pumpkins to decorate. And I am planning a trip to the Pacific Northwest this October! Yay!
I’ll be watching all of you w/ some envy in the next few months…(But of course I can’t complain either!)
aloha!
Here’s the one I’ve been doing: Perusing my Fall Fun Pinterest board and planning what we should do from it!

Grinning here, your reason #1 is EXACTLY what has happened here! Glad I’m in good company. I’m also dying to hear a marching band playing a fight song for a football game! ANY football game. And soup? Oh yea, very very soon!

I am absolutely looking forward to fall. The heat is really getting to me now (the south is brutal in the summer) and I’m ready for cool air, birthdays, and pumpkin spice lattes. Back to school is by far my favorite shopping season of the year! And have you noticed? At least here halloween stuff is already out! Come on fall!
