yokes

Sometimes being strong means letting go.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

Today I will set down worry.
Ah, yes, worry.

It’s all too easy to
worry about academics
worry about Samuel’s health
worry about finances
worry about my to do list
worry about time
worry.

And worry robs joy.

cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you
1 Peter 5:7

Today I set those overflowing worry pails down.
And I ask for His joy.

It’s funny that we don’t realize how heavy those pails are until we set them down. Hope everyone is feeling better there!

Thank you-I have quite a few pals of worry to lay down today too. Sick kiddos, Brandon’s hip, money, my daughter’s learning ability and others. Why do we chose to carry those silly things around, He is so good to do it for us if we only ask and trust Him too.
Hope you all are feeling better.
Hugs
Jill

I carry so much that was never meant to be carried by me … or carried at all. Tozer says we tend to believe that God is only 99% good, or safe, or loving, or protective. That we secretly believe that 1% of God isn’t all that great or reliable … so we have to take care of ourselves. Thus enters worries and fear.
(I’m paraphrasing Tozer quite a bit here). At any rate – I think he’s right, although I hate to admit it. Great post, Rachel! Gentle, but plain, reminder.

Seeking joy along side you today as life comes to steal it away. Been reading One Thousand Gifts (I know, I’m so behind haha!) this post went right along side that!

Thank you for the reminder to stop worrying so much, and just to enjoy the moment.

I hope your day is/was full of joy.

amen. it’s amazing how Jesus offers us a life without burdens, but yet we so often ignore His offer, thinking we HAVE to fret about things in order to take care of them. praise God for being our rock!

I saw this on Jennilee Goodwin’s post yesterday: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

Amen sister. I’m trying to lay my worry down as well. Daily… hourly.

Said a prayer for you!

Know that I’m still here praying!
Psalms 40:1-4 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
