1} Last Monday if someone would have told me that I was going to Relevant I would have laughed and thought it to be impossible. I know, I know, nothing is impossible for God. I’m witnessing it right now.
2} I do need to calm my nerves down. I think I must be operating at ultra-high-anxiety mode right now. I have to intentionally still my self — I keep praying and asking the Lord to replace any anxiety with His peace.
3} Then of course, there’s that flying thing again. If you recall from when I went to Hilton Head Island this summer that I wrote about how this girl, that’s me, doesn’t really care for flying. Well, due to the last minute nature of this amazing trip and opportunity, I am now flying the oddest and fullest flight possible. With many plane changes. Let’s see — on the way out? There will be three flights. Three take-offs, three landings. Not that I’m counting.
4} Then, and this is a prayer request, the time between plane changes on my first leg out {in Milwaukee, Wisconsin} is a grand total of 29 minutes. Yes, 29. Twenty-nine. Two tens plus nine ones. Thirty take away one. That’s it. Thankfully, I’ve already studied the map of that airport and have discovered that all of the Delta flights are on the same concourse and that there aren’t that many gates. But, anyways, if you’d pray that I make my connections I’d be extremely grateful.
That would be the Milwaukee Airport Map. Yes, I’ve been studying it. |
5} And now, we get to plane size. Since I’m skipping across the country to Harrisburg I don’t get the luxury of a larger plane. Nope. I’m on those regional sized planes. The ones where you can feel everything. Please add that to your prayer requests – peace for me on those teeny planes.
6} I had to do it this way. The other options were switching airlines on the way out and that would have entailed extra baggage fees. $25 a pop per airline. I originally wasn’t going to bring a bag. And then I remembered — conference with women. I’ll need stuff. Well, really and honestly, my dear husband refused to let me just go with a carry-on because he was afraid I’d hurt my shoulder worse and then suffer the whole time I’m out there. I love him and am blessed by him.
7} God works in powerful and direct ways. I’ve been praying a great deal about marriage and strengthening our marriage and more. Well, tomorrow I’m going to introduce you to one of my sponsors, Ashley Pichea, who has written marvelous e-books and has a great blog. As part of my sponsorship I’m honored to promote to you, and to the many amazing women at Relevant, her new e-book regarding marriage. It’s called –31 Days to Build a Better Spouse {you can visit it at 31daystopray.com } And it’s on the power of prayer. God knew. He knew my heart and knew beforehand how much I need to read this ebook. It’s humbling. i”m excited to share more with you and to journey through her book.
Oh yes, and one last thing, anyone know anywhere where I could get business cards made fast? I’ve tried to price them online and they cost over $100 to get them made and shipped in time. Any options that you all know of?

How exciting Rachel! I’m not a huge fan of flying either, so I understand your anxiety and I’ll be thinking of you and praying for you.
Harrisburg is only about 45 minutes from me! I’ve considered going to Relevant, but this year doesn’t seem to be the year. Maybe next?
I hope you have a lovely time. I’m sure it will be wonderful.
Rach, I believe you can find a template to make your own business cards online (maybe in Word) and then buy a pack of cards to print at home at somewhere like Staples or Office Depot. Very inexpensive! I am so elated for you and happy that you are able to go to Relevant. God is so good. Will be praying for all those flights, friend!
Printing your own business cards is a great option. The website Vistaprint also has several free business card options. You would have to rush the shipping, but it might not be too bad if the cards were free. Just another idea. Have a great trip!
I will pray for you as you travel!! Recently I flew across the country plane hopping in the middle of the night on those little bumpy planes. I spent seven hours in prayer and just listening to the Lord. I prayed the song Your Great Name by Natalie Grant. I had really really been struggling with awful anxiety and the words “the enemy has to leave at the sound of Your great name” were such a comfort to me. I know the perfect peace your are praying and pray that you will receive it.
Have a great trip!!
I am the worst when it comes to flying too. I am so sorry that you have to do all the thinking about it. Praying for you to have peace and for all the details to work out for you.
I told Kelly about our deal! : ) And if God can get you to Relevant in a week’s time, I know with a year to work with, He can somehow get us both there next time. Is it ok to be excited, already?!!!!
I’ll be praying for you. You can do this. You’re used to taking care of 8 others. I’m certain you can manage just 1 even if it includes a 29 min layover. How can that even be called a layover?! Ha. Everything will go according to the Lord’s plans. I’ll pray for you to have peace.
Your sponsor sounds superb!!!
Please, remember, I want to hear about every detail!!!
Xoxo!!!
Praying for you sweet friend. You’ll do great and His grace is sufficient!
i love flying. i really do. but i hate scary turbelance, so i’m with you there. praying for peace for you and so much joy as you attend this amazing conference.
i really wish i could be going too. next year, i pray.
I did my cards through Vista print and they are really cheap…some are free. You will do just fine on the plane and I think it’s smart to check out the layout of the airport since you have a short time. You are so right about God working in powerful and direct ways…SO true 🙂 Have an awesome time!
So excited for you, Rachel! I used 123 Print for my cards, but that may be a bit expensive last minute!!
As I type this I am in the ATL airport awaiting my flight to NYC. I am a nervous flyer, but God gave me peace today, as I know he will give you peace as well!
Blessings!
Fortunately the information you offered here far exceeds that of which I have read standard business card dimensions other blogs. Thanks.
you are going to have such a great time! yay!
Hi! I found your blog through Miscellany monday 🙂 how fun your blog is!!! I saw you asked for recommendations for where to get business cards. I got mine through vistaprints.com for I think $10 for 100..I’m not positive, it was a long time ago. 🙂 It’s worth checking out though! God bless!
My mom had me make her buisness cards on Microsoft Exel, then just went to the local Kinko’s and got them printed.
I am so thrilled for you, Rachel and i truly believe God has a great plan for you in all of this. It’s so cool to think that He cares about the small things in our lives–like blogger conferences. He ordains each step. Praise His great name!
I’m praying for safe travels and calm nerves
So excited about what the Lord is up to in your life through all of this and I can’t wait for you to share it. Pray you have a wonderful time of refreshing and renewal. What a blessing!
Vista Print is really cheap, but I don’t know if it could be done in time. Otherwise, you can buy packs of blank business cards at all of the office supply stores. They are very inexpensive. Maybe you can find a designer who will design one for you for free to print yourself?
Or you could check etsy. I know there are people on there who sell printables. As long as you have a printer you can print them at home, ASAP.
I just looked really quickly. I searched “Business calling cards.” On the first page is this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/41750209/teal-damask-businesscalling-cards?ref=sr_gallery_15&ga_search_submit=&ga_ref=auto&ga_search_query=business+calling+cards&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade $15.00.
I hope you find something that works!
Firstly appreciate your efforts! this was wonderful and wobbly!
Resume Template
You could definitely print them yourself. There are templates…try Staples. Or maybe Staples would print them, or Kinkos…
Know that I’m always here praying!
Psalms 121:3-5 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
