I’ve struggled to find Bible curriculum and studies for my older kids. I need studies where they can delve into the Word and tackle issues. I also need it to be thorough and in depth.
The curriculum from Deeper Roots publication has filled a niche in our homeschooling household.
They have a wonderful missionary/ministry focus and incorporate that into all of their lessons. Lessons are divided into units — 7 total discussing joy, integrity, forgiveness, humility, unselfishness, self-control, and love. Students are constantly using their Bibles — digging deep — trying to learn and memorize Scripture through journaling, memorization, discussion questions and more. I received Discovering A Christ-Like Character to review and decided to use it with Chloe who is in eighth grade. This curriculum is aimed for students 9-10th grade, but Chloe did just fine in the weeks we’ve spent working through the book.
Here are some of Chloe’s words to describe her weeks with Deeper Roots:
I love how I am immersed in the Word of God.
It’s important for me to be aware of cultures who don’t know about Jesus. I can pray for them.
It’s easy to understand and complete.
I look forward to my morning Bible Study.
I have been so happy with our experience with Deeper Roots that I intend to purchase the next volumes for Chloe to complete throughout her remaining homeschool years. In fact, next year, I will also be purchasing the senior high version Rooted and Grounded for Hannah.
If you are looking for a solid Bible curriculum than I highly recommend you further examining the products from Deeper Roots. You can purchase Discovering Christ Like Character for $19.95 and the teacher’s guide (which we did use) for $28.95. Click HERE. I received this to review while I was a part of the TOS Crew. Isn’t it great when you get a review item you really like & want to continue using? My kids are to young for this but we may have to look into it in a few years.
