taken by my daughter Hannah – first night’s sunset |
I’ve been pretty silent in the online social media blog world. Intentionally. We left on Saturday morning for our annual trip to the lake – I’ve been coming since I was a child – and this week is truly a week celebrating family, embracing rest, and taking a step back out of the busy frenzy of life.
The resort we go to is like a snippet back in time. Simply, no frills, and yet beautifully located, full of memories, and completely restful.

It’s hard to sit in front of a computer when out of my window is beauty.
So I’ve chosen to take some time off. Especially after the frenzy in which it took for me to get our family of nine packed. Let’s just say I might have been up till 2 in the morning and then up again at 5:30 trying to get everything done. And I still forgot things – thankfully I can purchase those things {like coffee} up here. I didn’t forget my Keurig though – just the coffee. 🙂
I’ve already been playing in the water with the kids, fishing, on boat rides, playing games, learning to play the game Kubb {any of you played it?}, talking walks, and just being still and laughing with my family.

Now, today, it’s 7am, and the sun is shining and this is my view.

I’m getting offline. I hear Samuel waking up and he’s chattering away about being at Woodland.
Joy.

Have a wonderful time! We took a family vacation to the beach last week with self-imposed limited internet access. It was amazing!!! Time with family and recharging the batteries was needed. Coming back, I am much more relaxed and focused on what really matters. Praying the same for you!
I could have written this post! We go to a lake every year that we’ve gone to since I was 9 months old (so for 32 years). We stay at the same place every time, in cabins much like the one you pictured. It is such a treasured time and I am blessed to be able to share my favorite place from my childhood with my little ones now!
You deserve the rest and family most definitely comes first! Enjoy your week, your family and the beauty God provides us all if we just look. Becoming unplugged can certainly be a blessing.
What fun to be at your family’s favorite place. I know you will make more memories and have fun hashing over the old ones made in previous years.
So good to stop by. I’ve been a little out of sync with my blog reading the past couple of weeks.
Blessings abundant for a wonderful week!
Jealous! Hope you have a wonderful time. And, thank you for sharing your time with our readers at HEF. 🙂
Enjoy every single second!! It’s fun knowing we’re both in places that we love to pieces. 🙂
Glad you’re having this special time!
Know that I’m here praying!
Psalms 94:17-19, 22 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul…But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

You have a beautiful family!

Praying that these words give you comfort!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
