That’s my word.
For 2012.
I’ve been mulling
over words
and directions
and what
and where
I feel the Lord is calling me this year.
In that thinking
I came to the realization
that there are things I need
to let go of
and not let define me
for the future.
I also recognized the need
for courage
and purpose
and boldness
and being strong
and steadfast
and being tenacious
and persevering
and being true.
And that,
that
is being
resolute.
So this year
I want to live
with a resolute heart
to live for Jesus
to love my children more
to love my husband more
to spend my time wisely
to embrace the day
to be aware, awake
to do the real important
to believe in the future
to embrace the smallest things
to live life
intentionally.
And that
will be with a
resolute heart
seeking
and
finding joy.

Words…. I wish I had a word and yet my mind and heart are blank which is what I just admitted to my readers. Resolute is a good one though and one I can say I have not heard nor considered. I wish you all the best in 2012.
That’s a lovely word.I haven’t yet figured out a word yet but if i do, i will most certainly let you know. =)
Loved your post. I want to be intentional this year.
Dear Rachel,
Resolute is an inspiring word — to remain steadfast, standing up for what we believe, ever abounding in the work of the Lord, keeping our eyes on the prize that is Him.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on Saved by Grace. Your blog is a blessing and I am now following it, and I invite you to follow Saved by Grace also:

Hi dear friend, thank you for your sweet comment! I am still mulling over words but your posts (as usual) inspire me to come up with one and actually write a post about it.
I dont think I ever told you this, but your blog title combined with your Friday Favorite Things made 2011 my mission to find joy in every circumstance. (But it wa something that evolved way after Jan. 1st 2011).
Between those and the One Thousand Gift List, it transformed my heart and soul into something much more beautiful.
I ended the year with the recognition that I now choose to find joy in every situation habitually…and it was such a pleasure to realize that because of the Lord, I accomplished it, especially in the midst of my progressive illness, and my son’s.
That is why you’ll see my new title is Choosing His Joy because it is now my life mantra. It’s become who I am in every fiber of my being.
So thank you so much for helping in ways you never even knew about! the Lord is using you and your blog for great things.
When I come up with my word I will let you know…God bless you and your sweet family and have a blessed 2012!
xoxo,
Carla
Happy new year! Great post!!
Living for jesus is one of mine too!
Pretty pictures!
In our sea of love
May Finding Resolute be as sucessful as Finding Joy has been for you and your family!
Love the word you chose!
I have done steadfast, resolved, wholehearted…love those words.
This year I have settled on lovingkindness.
I can remember a sermon my dad preached about this word. He loved the rich meaning of the word.
So…I am choosing it for 21012.
Happy New Year, Rachel.

oops! 2012! I am old, but not THAT old! 😀
I love your one word my friend. My word for 2012 is “pursue”.
Pursue God wholeheartedly.
Pursue others intentionally.
Pursue health purposefully!
Happy New Year!
Excellent word. Resolute.
Mine is “intentional”. I feel the tug to be more intentional with my love. More intentional with my time. More intentional with this life the Lord has given to me.
Happy New Year!
Right on my friend! Great word!!! Xoxo thanks for linking up!

Love it! I can’t wait to see how being resolute unfolds in your day-to-day life!
My word for the year is “abandon.” I want to abandon things that are keeping me from growing closer to the Lord – not only things in my head and heart, but even clutter in my home! And I want to worship, love, serve, pursue, obey, follow the Lord with abandon! I want to love and serve my husband and children with abandon! Not hold anything back!
My word for 2012 is BOLD. I need to be BOLD in all things that are important. Goals for my family, continuing to pursue what is important when I’m tired and want to stop. I will be BOLD for the Lord.

My word for 2012 is “enough”. and it has a happy ending….hope you will swing by Brighton Park and find out why! and love the word “resolute”. Always makes me think of the Constitution. There is power in that word. Blessings to you in 2012.

i never thought of picking a word for the year. I like yours.. amen to your post.
Wouldn’t even know how to pick a word for the year…
Wanted to share these comforting words with you! Know that I’m always praying!
Job 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Great word!
I am still thinking about and trying to decide what my word for 2012 is. If I come up with it soon I’ll come back here and share! 🙂
I actually just decided…my word for 2012 is COURAGE. For too long I’ve allowed fear to hold me back from fully surrendering to God and his will for my life. This year I want to be open and vulnerable to whatever Christ calls me to, no matter what the sacrifice might be.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Love your choice and post. This is what it’s all about! I just posted about my one word too! (GIVE!) By the way, I’m giving away FREE “One Word” blog buttons if you would like one with your word. Just let me know 🙂

What a lovely word (:
I find it so interesting – we choose a word at the beginning of the year when we have no idea what the year has in store. And at the end of the year, it’s amazing to see how perfectly that word fit with the entire year. I think that’s definitely a God thing.
Months ago the Lord gave me the word…Patience.
In everything.
I love everything about this… in fact, I might “borrow” it from you and adopt it as my 2012 mantra too! As always, thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful and inspiring post. You mentioned “intentional” which was one of the words I considered, but opted for another. Great word choice and I pray you have a blessed year. (I am a homeschool mom of five, 2 already graduated)
