quiet

by Rachel Marie Martin

the last couple days

have been

a blur
driving
running
cheering
cleaning
fixing
applauding
crying
laughing
planning
shopping
watching
exhausting
and today,
today is our last main activity prior
to Christmas
it’s the children’s program at church
and instead of being frantic
and rushing
and worrying
if they’ll remember their lines
or keep their shirt tucked in
or will stand still
i’m deciding
to instead adopt
the quiet.
i want to listen
as the children
as my children
tell the true
story of Jesus’ birth
i want to be
aware
with a heart
that abandons the busy
and chooses the still.
let me
remain in the quiet.

Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace
to those on whom his favor rests {Luke 2:14}

I had a similar epiphany today…stop by if you get the chance. Only after enjoying the quiet and the sweet sound of your angels reciting truth!

Amen…may all young mothers, well all mothers, learn this special lesson and stop…enjoy, take in…because they grow so fast and then the quiet is deafening.

Enjoy…Merry Christmas

The Lord is with you right now, lifting you up, giving you strength! Always praying!
Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
