My heart seeks joy.
Looking in the everyday.
In the little things.
The sweet moments of life.
Grateful.

these are a few of  my
(can you believe this is my 6th week doing this?)

friday favorite things | finding joy
my new collection of cookbooks

orange juice mixed with ginger ale

frozen mango chunks

little boys drawing with chalk in warmer weather

listening to those same boys giggle as they watch the original Veggie Tales
being thankful for netflix where we can stream those Veggie Tale movies
Old Mason Jars

the fact that our drinking glasses are Mason Jars
(please tell me one of you uses them as well)
Reading and Discussing and Debating Animal Farm with Hannah
Napoleon the Pig (named after the character in Animal Farm) on our kitchen wall

fresh berries
holding Samuel
Brennan, the brave knight, doing his homework

realizing that Brennan gets reading

(you know that day where they go from sounding out to just reading? He did it!)
Chobali yogurt
my pen/pencil/eraser/marker/colored pencil/tape catch-all box

glue
glue that isn’t dripping all over the place
and that it was glue that I purchase for $.19 at Target in the fall
clean kitchen counters
clean kitchen counters that stay clean for longer than ten minutes
kitchen counters that were cleaned that are now full of school books
having my children home with me with their school books on the kitchen counter
little feet
rainboots mixed with winter boots

thinking about putting away those winter boots
reading my Bible

Gracie’s Bible in her yellow crocheted bag

reading Philippians
prayer
(and would you pray for us today? Todd has his oncology check-up this morning)
and
that we are in April
(which decreases the potential for snow greatly)

oh yeah, and this picture of my Samuel.
Love.

Oh yes-my faithful little Mason Jar. That’s what we use 🙂

That is too cute…my little brother (looks about the same age as Brennan) always dresses up as a knight or sheriff. He’ll even wear is costume to the store! It’s wonderful that he’s learning to read 🙂

For our family devotions, we’ve been going through Philippians too. It’s a great book!

Thanks for your comment on my post. I don’t really like drinking out of Mason jars, but I certainly love spooning fresh jam out of one!!

Praying for a good report for Todd!

I love the Nourishing Traditions cookbook! Today I’m making the variety salad from it. I don’t know that I’m going to venture into brains and organ meats, but I love the veggie and grain ideas! 😉

@ Coby — I’m agreeing with you about the organ meat aspect. I need your email, my friend, so I can reply to you!

I love the list…always do. Warmer weather is a lovely thing isn’t it! I love the open windows. I’m hoping we had our last snow the other day. I do love Netflix and will have to look for some Veggie Tales. Mason jars are the best. I usually use them for flowers…love that look. $.19 glue…wonderful 🙂 I love Gracie’s bag…adorable. I’m in Isaiah 54 and loving His promises. Thanks for hosting. I hope the appointment went well.

I love drinking out of Mason Jars! It makes me feel so rustic. 😀

I’m praying and hope that all went well and will be well!

What beautiful eyes your baby has. 🙂 I had a couple of blue-eyed little sprouts 20+ years ago. 🙂

I also think that Mason jars are cool. I haven’t had any iced tea in one for a zillion years now.

I have subscribed to your blog and put your button on mine, too.

Thanks for sharing your favorite things!

I stopped and prayed for your family (especially Todd and Samuel) in the middle of your blog post. 🙂 Orange juice and ginger ale sounds like a great combo– I’ll have to try it. I like mango juice and sprite. Thanks for hosting again!

How did the appt go?!!!!! Praying so that Todd’s okay!
And could Samuel’s eyes be any bluer?! That last photo is breathtaking!
Amazing and comforting words. Praying!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Praying hard in Seattle!
Psalms 46:1-5 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
