My heart is full of thanks
and my body quite tired
{and my arm still sore}.
On Thanksgiving we spent the day at my parents
and I slept and slept and slept.
Grateful for rest.
It’s about 10:30 at night on Thanksgiving
while I sit in my living room writing
my friday favorite things
{with only my right hand typing}
and I’m thinking back on the hazy week
and am grateful for each of you and your prayers for me
while I underwent shoulder surgery.
Profoundly blessed by your words.
I am grateful for a couch at my parents
where I could sleep and sleep
{yep I had Hannah take a pic of my little nest}
After my surgery and again today.
And I am blessed by the pies that my mother made
for Samuel
that had delicious
{and I mean amazing}
gluten free crusts.
Love my parent’s
Keurig Coffee Maker
{I just have the mini}
and of course, their selection of coffees
which I enjoyed when I wasn’t sleeping.
Sigh, I’m thankful for my black arm sling
Yes, I am.
Even though right now my heart feels overwhelmed
with everything that needs to be relearned
and regained strength wise.
Blessed by a mid-Thanksgiving Day game
of Scrabble
with my sister, and Dad, and Hannah.
I wish that this week I could come up with more profound favorite things.
I’ve just been resting so much and not taking as many pictures.
And friends, I’m tired still.
But I’ll tell you what I’m thankful for in simple words:
great surgeon
caring mom
medicine
nerve blocks
my friend Maria
my friend Maria
television remotes
warm blankets
stitches and dressings
tonic water
my husband who bought me flowers
many pillows
warm socks
prayers
physical therapists
heat for our home
nurses that call
wonderful kids that pray for me
encouraging words
that with work I can regain arm strength
relief of chronic pain
my dad
mint ice cream
the time to sleep
the time to rest
my life
And these things
these little things
these beautiful everyday things
these gifts
they are
my favorite things.

Hope you arm feels better and better. Sometimes it is the small things in our lives that make the most.
What a beautiful post, and I can’t believe you typed it all one handed. WOW, I’m impressed!
I cannot imagine being one armed with all the responsibilities that you have on a day to day basis. I pray that the Lord will give you peace on your road to recovery and you will not be overwhelmed. Often easier said than done.
Love you dear one!
Yes, that was some pretty good one-handed typing, my friend!
Earnestly praying for your swift and full recovery! Take care, and enjoy some of the down time…!
What a beautiful post! I love your attitude of finding joy amidst some painful, difficult circumstances. I just stumbled on your blog this week, and look forward to reading more!
I think you did great coming up with all those things!
Know that I’m still here praying!
Psalms 62:7-8 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
