There once was a a mom.
This mom was a busy mom
very busy
yet she was determined to
seek the joy
in the midst of the everyday.
This was the week where the weather started
to change and finally cool down
and little boys sat on the couch reading
with their jackets on.
Just so you know,
Caleb was reading about ants.
What little boy wouldn’t want to read about them? )

I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn
alongside friends at co-op
and for the great crafts that they do with my kids.
and speaking of co-op classes
they wear me out
but, I’m thankful that my friends still love me
when I look so worn at the end.
Yep, that’s me, sans make-up.
Oh well, those little ones don’t care about my crazy hair, do they?
The hymn below fills me with nostalgia.
It’s my dad’s favorite and was his mother’s as well.
I cannot play it without thinking of family and eternal life in Jesus.
I cannot play it without thinking of family and eternal life in Jesus.
Abide with me! Fast falls the Eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
This blue cross hangs above my kitchen sink on the window
I purchased it in Duluth and a quaint little shop
and it’s been on my window ever since.
I look to it to remember perspective
in those trying days of motherhood.
And speaking of my kitchen sink,
I had a very fun opportunity to participate in a
dishmat media blitz.
At 2pm CST my post will go live talking about
why you need that sage green dishmat in the after picture.
I’m giving away three
and linking with others — we’re giving away 33 total.

Seriously, you won’t believe what I’m using my other one for!
October is Celiac Disease Awareness Month.
contacted me regarding Samuel
{they had read my blog about Samuel and his medical journey}
wondering if he’d like to be one of their featured bloggers for October.
That will be coming next week.
But, let me tell you
This is an honor.
I’ve prayed for Samuel’s story to reach others
that in all of our hardship that
others would find hope.
others would find hope.
I’m thankful and blessed for the love of the Lord that my children share.
Brennan was “teaching” Elijah
{basically they set up a “school” in the family room}
This was the craft that they made.
Absolutely beautiful to my mother’s heart.
And I love how I was taught to wait.
I wanted this canvas print for my boys’ room since I first saw it at Target.
I knew I was to wait.
Then a week ago I was wandering the back clearance aisles and found this
tucked away for only $7.48.
An even better deal because it taught me to be content in waiting.
And finally, this week I’m truly grateful for the
absolute glorious weather that fall can bring.
And the splendor as my Maple in the front yard
succumbs to fall
as it’s leaves change from green
to brilliant red.
How about you? What are you grateful for today?

I will really have to link up one of these weeks. In the meantime I would love to hear how you handle all the driving and dinnertimes on ballet nights. Last night I put 96 miles on the van driving the loop from home to ballet to boys choir twice. It was enough to make me decide to drop our Friday co-op!
Thanks again for a wonderful post. You point out the marvelous even in the simple things, and it’s a great reminder to cherish all moments of motherhood. Have a wonderful Friday!
That 50 states with one union is awesome!!! Fall is a beautiful time. I LOVE that owl face mask!!!
So glad Samuels story is reaching and spreading…may God be glorified and people be touched!
I love your photos….they really blessed me today.
I’m thankful during this month of October (breast cancer awareness) for the life of my precious best friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer @ 37 years old. She is now 2 years cancer free (thank You God most high). Please remember to have regular screenings….God bless you all.

Great joys. Love the map…and for such a great deal! First time linking up :).
SO happy Samuel’s story will be shared! 🙂 And I LOVE books about ants! Don’t know why! Ha.
Isn’t the cooler weather nice 🙂 I love your list this week, as usual. That sun catcher is just beautiful. I’m so excited to hear that Samuel’s story will educate others…what a blessing he is 🙂
I am grateful for bloggers like you.

Rachel, I am so thankful for you..for your words, your encouragement and for our children. When my oldest was 5, he looked at me and said Mama, why do you wear makeup? I think you’re much prettier without it…HUH? So…now, when I run out of the house…hair is usually pulled back and no make up…and I love running into other Moms…who look like me! (selfish, I know!) HUGS!
You look fab without make up – color me jealous … but for sure, color me with something 😉
What a truly lovely post, it made me happy just to read it!
The craft that Elijah and Brennan did is too precious…what a glorious moment!
