Years ago, I shared a simple idea, a simple post that we did every Friday called Friday Favorite Things. It was a list of moments from the week that mattered. The goal was to find the joy in the small things, the little things that truly mattered. We did it for many years here on Finding Joy.
Now, with the Coronavirus Pandemic I thought it to be a perfect time to unearth this practice. There is so much fear out there, so much hard stuff. But light always outshines darkness and my goal is that these lists of good can add light to a world that is struggling with fear.
The premise is easy – simply write/share things that were important from the last week. And challenge a friend to do the same. Here are some of my favorite things:
New plants grown.
Seeds in the soil, waiting, representing life.
Skype Calls with Teachers
A bit of the old, some new, connections still.
Looking in from the outside inside to the new house.
Something New
A Duke Ukulele for me to play.
Something new in the midst of the crazy.
Saying Goodbye
This week we shut the door on my first home
in Nashville for the last time.
A Viral Quote
Because truly, we all need to see the good.
Remembering my Wedding
Under two months ago – who knew how the world would change.
And the rest: hot coffee, plenty of it. Chalk on the sidewalk and the streets. Sunny days. A grill to cook on and plenty of food. Friends who send notes and say hello. A piano to play. Kids who are healthy. My new wonderful home. Hot showers.
How about for you?
Simply create your list, join the movement of good.
