To my kids, and all the kids in the midst of standardized testing:
You are greater than any test.
Let me repeat that: You are GREATER than any test.
It doesn’t matter to me the test score, what matters, to me is how hard you try.
This is why.
I want you to be empathetic and kind. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to love others. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to like learning. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to treat others with respect. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to be filled with confidence. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to try new things. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to be daring. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to be a friend. A test doesn’t measure that.
I want you to be creative. A test doesn’t measure that.
Now, listen, I know that when the time starts and you’re holding that number two pencil that it’s hard to remember that. I get it. We live in a world of grades and tests. And learning to take a test is NOT a bad thing. It’s a good thing to figure out test taking skills. It teaches you patience, determination and how to figure stuff out under pressure.
But remember – the test is only a small portion of what you know.
We know that. Teachers know that. Parents know that.
You have true powerful value beyond that test.
And that is what I want you to remember as you read those questions and fill in your answers.
You are greater than any test.
You are valuable and wonderful and a gift to this world.
Not because of a test.
Because you are you.

So true!
Please update to correct the wording from “talk a test” to “take”.
Ok
Love this!
