There are days where I am reminded of the gift of this online world and blogging. That gratitude comes from realizing the connections with others that I have forged throughout the years. One of those people? My friend, Lynnette Kraft. She is my friend, and a very dear one. She has walked hard roads with me in my life, including the years following my husband’s cancer diagnosis and the months during and after Samuel’s Celiac Disease diagnosis. In all those times, those walks, she has been a source of constant hope and joy.
When the email came in my inbox asking if I’d consider reviewing a copy of her new book He Heard Hannah I knew immediately, without a shadow of a doubt, that the answer would be a whole-hearted yes. I love Lynnette. I love her as a mentor, as a friend. And I love how she has allowed me, and you and many other readers glimpses into her life. Into those raw, hard, incredibly painful moments of life and yet, in them all she has found joy.
A joy that is not of herself, but a deep rooted joy that can only come from our Father. Her joy? It is contagious. Her message of hope? Inspiring. Her faith? It’s a faith that I want in my own life. Her desire to share about Jesus? That is what I love about her.
The book, He Heard Hannah, is a dual account of two lives intersecting at one of life’s most devastating moments – the death of Lynnette’s beautiful daughter Anna, at age six. Lynnette has woven her perspective with the perspective of Courtney Becker, the 911 Dispatcher who took the call from Lynnette’s husband Kyle on the November morning when Anna died. In fact, the book is written in two voices — Courtney’s {pictured on the left} words for a chapter and then Lynnette’s {pictured on the right} words for the next. It is humbling, inspiring, and a blessing to read how these two lives intersected and how both Lynnette and Courtney give glory and praise to our Father in all things.
I sat on our couch, and read this book in one afternoon {I couldn’t put it down!}. There were moments where the tears simply could not stop falling — at one time Lynnette writes about her two sons who died named Samuel and Josiah — this has been a bond between Lynnette and I since my own son, whom she has prayed for, is named Samuel Josiah. She writes about her family’s faith, their hopes, and those days, the months, the years before and after Anna died.
Friends, I closed the last page of the book with hope. I closed the book praising our Lord. So today, I am telling you, my readers, my friends, that it is absolutely worth your time reading this amazing book called He Heard Hannah. You will be blessed, and inspired, and I pray, filled with the contagious hope that both Lynnette and Courtney share.
